About Our Program

General Questions

Learn more about how Liz James Ragdolls operates and how we raise our kittens.

What is Liz James Ragdolls?

Liz James Ragdolls is a small, home-based Ragdoll breeding program. Our cats and kittens are raised in our home with our family.

Are your kittens raised in your home?

Yes. Our kittens are raised in our home with our family and receive regular human interaction, affection, handling, and age-appropriate socialization.

How often do you have Ragdoll litters?

We intentionally keep our breeding program small. We generally have about one litter per year, and sometimes we wait as long as two years between litters.

Why do you have limited litters?

Keeping our program small allows us to concentrate on the cats and kittens in our care and give each kitten individual attention and socialization.

What type of families are you looking for?

We look for kitten-loving and pet-loving families who are ready to provide a safe, stable, loving home and care for their Ragdoll throughout its life.

Do you sell kittens to families outside your area?

Families who cannot personally pick up their kitten may discuss available delivery options with us.

How are your kittens socialized?

Our kittens are raised around our family and receive regular human interaction, gentle handling, affection, play, and exposure to normal household experiences appropriate for their age.

Are your kittens litter trained?

Kittens are introduced to litter-box habits as they develop. We also introduce potty pads so families can continue a familiar routine after bringing their kitten home.

Are the kittens vaccinated?

Yes. Kittens are vaccinated and kept up to date with vaccinations appropriate for their age before leaving our care.

Are the kittens dewormed?

Yes. Appropriate deworming care is provided before kittens leave our care.

Do the kittens receive parasite treatment?

Yes. Appropriate parasite treatments are provided before kittens leave our care.

Are the kittens spayed or neutered?

No. Our kittens leave while they are still young and are not spayed or neutered by us before going home.

Families should discuss the appropriate timing with their veterinarian based on their kitten's individual health and development.

Do the kittens come with health records?

Yes. Applicable vaccination, veterinary, deworming, parasite-treatment, and other health documentation is provided with the kitten's going-home paperwork.
